He hononga hoki oku ki a Te Aitanga a Mahaki, ki a Ngati Porou, ki a Te Whakatohea me Ngati Kahungungu ki Te Wairoa.
Karla was born in Turanga and has spent a large percentage of her time growing up here. She has two teenage daughters who were also born and raised in Turanga.
Karla is currently attending kura reo, hoping to expand her reo knowledge in support of her passion for Te Ao Maori.
Karla considers herself to be a family person and loves spending time with her large extended whanau. Her Hei whanau own and operate Maraehako Camping Ground on the East Coast of the North Island. Karla spends a lot of time, and loves to unwind, at Maraehako. She enjoys meeting the tourists who travel from afar to visit.

Karla is a food lover, enjoys fishing, diving, socialising, motor bikes and V8 cars.
