Wal grew upon a sheep and beef farm in Ngatapa and has retained a love of the outdoors through participation in various sports, hunting, fishing and travelling. He enjoys reading and socialising with friends and family.
Wal's previous legal experience has been in rural work, predominantly succession planning, employment contracts and sharemilking agreements, trusts, RMA and carbon credits for forestry as well as Maori land law. He is currently employed as a family lawyer and he also intends to move into criminal law at some point in the future.
